Dr. Chi-young Jung’s research team of the Fuel Cell Research & Demonstration Center at the Korea Institute of Energy Research has developed ‘the original technology for manufacturing MEA that reduces platinum usage through ionomer nano-control technology in fuel cell electrodes based on wet electrospray method’ through joint research with Hanyang University.
* MEA (Membrane Electrode Assembly) : A core part where the fuel cell electrode and the electrolyte membrane are joined. Hydrogen and oxygen react here and the actual electrochemical reaction takes place to create electricity, accounting for about 40% of the fuel cell stack cost.

This world-class result was published on August 10 in the online version of ‘Applied Catalysis B-Environmental (IF19.503, JCR, 1st place and top 0.73% in the field of Environmental Engineering),’ a renowned international academic journal in the field of environmental engineering.
