Pursuant to the government policy to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, considerable research on how to improve energy efficiency at existing buildings has been carried out. In this regard, energy diagnosis and energy modeling to identify the current energy performance level of buildings are required to promote energy efficiency effectively.

Accordingly, a team of researchers at the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KISTI) led by Dr. Kim Jong-hun of Energy ICT Convergence Research Department has developed an AI-based model for measuring energy level of buildings without the need to visit them. As a result, it is expected that the project on improving energy performance of existing buildings to respond to climate change and enhance quality of living will gain momentum.
