The fuel cell laboratory of Korea Institute of Energy Research (President Jong-Nam Kim) was designated as a National Laboratory (N-LAB) of the Ministry of Science and ICT on July 10.
The fuel cell laboratory began researching fuel cells for the first time in Korea in 1980. It is also Korea’s only laboratory that is conducting full-cycle technology development for materials, parts, and systems in a single lab.
Currently, the core materials and components of fuel cells are highly dependent on Japan and the US. Therefore, in order to secure localization technology and lead the creation of an industrial ecosystem, Korea Institute of Energy Research’s fuel cell laboratory is planning to conduct rapid research as a national laboratory.
