The Korea Institute of Energy Research will open public data related to PV and wind power, which are key energy sources of leading the Green New Deal, to the public for free.

Dr. Kim Hyun-goo and his research team at New and Renewable Energy Resource Map Laboratory of KIER (President Kim Jong-nam) announced that for the first time the institute opens the‘Research data on national new & renewable energy resource map’, which has been accumulated for decades and used establishing national renewable energy supply targets, through a public data portal.

The public data opened by the team can be found at national public data portal(www.data.go.kr), be easily accessible and used by anyone. Through the open data, it is expected that the private industry will be revitalized by scientifically using renewable energy resource information, and a potential economic effect of about KRW five trillion is expected based on sales. It is also expected to be of great help to the general public in raising their understanding and interest in the field of renewable energy.
