KIER-Seoul City’s cooperation to create Green New Deal ecosystem

Korea Institute of Energy Research signed a business agreement with the Seoul Metropolitan Government, Seoul Institute of Technology, Korea Energy Corporation, Seoul Energy Corporation, Korea Conformity Laboratories and KOPIA on November 25 (Wed) to promote the Green New Deal project to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.


This agreement was made to establish a Green New Deal ecosystem in cooperation between private, public and research institutes, and to realize a Seoul Green New Deal and zero greenhouse gas emissions in 2050. The Seoul Green New Deal will invest 2.6 trillion won by 2022 to focus on five areas, including buildings, transportation, urban forests, new & renewable energy, and resource circulation to respond both to economic and climate crises and to preemptively reduce emissions from buildings, transportation, and waste, which are the three main culprit.
Researchers continue to discover carbon reduction technologies and new products for the implementation of the Green New Deal, converge energy and ICT, support city-based technologies for the balance of production and consumption, expand the supply of low carbon energy through technology verification for innovative green energy technologies, focus on energy demonstration technologies to activate the supply of low carbon energy centered on buildings.
