Dr. Cho Jun-sik and his research crew at the Photovoltaics Research Department at Korea Institute of Energy Research have developed a future Energy Harvesting* solar cell technology applied to the next-generation high-value solar energy sector amid accelerated energy conversion and green New Deal.

* Energy Harvesting : A technology that produces electricity by harvesting or scavenging wasted energy generated by natural resources such as sunlight, wind, water, vibration, and heat or daily life.

This technology has been introduced in Nano Energy, a renowned international journal in the field of material science, as a core technology for high-efficiency CIGS* double-sided solar cells that simultaneously penetrate sunlight which allows securing visual transparency

* CIGS Thin-film solar cell : Future technology, the most advanced commercialization since silicon solar cells, is a next-generation solar cell that uses Cu(In, Ga)Se2 inorganic compounds of four elements: copper, indium, gallium, and selenium as its light absorption layer of a solar cell
