Dr. Jong-won Choi's EMS Lab. at KIER developed a highly efficient air purification technology using electrostatic spraying* of water and successfully completed the empirical study.
* Electrostatic spraying : A technology in which ions in the liquid move to the surface by supplying positive (+) and negative (-) high voltages to the liquid passing through the nozzle during spraying and are transformed into minute droplets (water lumps) with a size of several tens of micrometers.

The research team developed a next-generation air cleaning technology using electrostatic spraying that can reduce ultra-fine dust, airborne bacteria and volatile organic compounds in a 3-in-1 manner by applying high voltage to water, and also successfully completed an empirical study within the subway line number 5, Janghanpyeong Station of Seoul Transportation Corporation.
