Dr. Jong-kyu Kim’s Renewable Heat Integration Lab. at KIER applied the new/renewable energy convergence (solar light, solar light/heat, fuel cell, energy storage, etc.) technology through the remodeling of an old building at the Daejeon Headquarters for the development of urban new/renewable energy plus energy community sharing platform (K-PEC, KIER Plus Energy Community), and demonstrated a high energy self-reliance rate of 144%.

KIER expects that the Plus Energy Community platform can be used to improve energy independence through urban regeneration in the future, build an urban energy supply platform using public land or old campuses, revitalize the architecture market through remodeling, and achieve energy independence in new cities.
