Dr. Soon-kwan Jeong's Fine Dust Research Dept. at KIER developed a manufacturing technology of energy-saving wide-temperature flue gas denitration catalyst that can dramatically reduce the emission of nitrogen oxides (NOx), a substance that causes fine dust, even at 200℃ or lower in a selective catalytic reduction* facility.
* Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) : An environmental facility that converts nitrogen oxides generated from the use of fossil fuels into non-hazardous substances such as N2 and O2 before they are discharged into the atmosphere.

Senior Researcher Dr. Soon-kwan Jeong said, “Through the development of a cryogenic denitration catalyst, which was considered a very challenging technology, it became possible to economically and efficiently remove substances that cause ultrafine dust. It is considered an innovative technology that can greatly contribute to the reduction of fine dust emitted by the domestic industrial sector.”
