The Korea Institute of Energy Research held a signing ceremony on March 11 (Thursday) with SK Materials Co., Ltd. for the technology transfer contract of Intellectual Property Rights/Knowledge on CO₂ Collection Technology KIERSOL. KIERSOL is a technology that selectively absorbs and collects CO₂ emitted from large-scale carbon emission sites such as thermal power plants, steel mills, and petrochemicals and is a crucial component of the CCS (carbon dioxide collection, utilization, storage). Dr. Yoon Yeo-il's research team developed the technology to a level that can be commercialized immediately by the industry and transferred the technology to SK Materials Co., Ltd.
