Dr. Soon-kwan Jeong of the Fine Dust Research Department at the Korea Institute of Energy Research jointly developed a technology that can simultaneously reduce greenhouse gases and wastes emitted from the cement industry and expand the use of waste plastics.
Existing carbon dioxide conversion technology consists of each process of collecting and converting carbon dioxide from exhaust gas. However, the technology developed by the researchers is an efficient and economical method in that in a single reactor carbon dioxide is captured and can be converted into useful calcium carbonate at the same time.

In addition, since it is economical and eco-friendly that uses waste resources to capture and convert carbon dioxide at the same time, the scope of application can be extended not only to the cement industry, but also to various business sites such as power generation, steel mills, and incinerators.
