The Korea Institute of Energy Research (President Kim Jong-nam) held the ‘2020 KIER Model Solar Car Race’ online to enhance the understanding of solar power generation among teenagers and improve their creativity.

This competition has been held offline every year. However, this year, it was converted to an online festival due to COVID-19. It is significant that the competition has developed from just showing the cars moved by solar power 20 years ago to the future solar cars which is humanity’s dream.
