Dr. Kang Eun-chul’s research team at KIER has developed a multifunctional (sound absorption/insulation, electricity/heat production) PVT sound barrier technology that can be applied as an alternative to the sound barrier of newly constructed roads and railways and old sound barriers installed in the past.

Photovoltaic-Thermal (PVT) is a technology that combines power and heat in PVT by merging solar panels and solar collectors. It can produce and utilize heat while increasing power generation by generating airflow inside the PVT and lowering the temperature of the PV panel.
