On October 21 (Thursday), the Korea Institute of Energy Research signed a 'business agreement to utilize ammonia decomposed hydrogen on ships' with IKOCES and VINSSEN.

The three organizations agreed to cooperate in ▲ localization of ammonia decomposition and hydrogen production facilities ▲ utilization of a ship propulsion system for ammonia decomposition hydrogen ▲ technology exchange on ammonia utilization and joint projects of related technologies.

The KIER will transfer the technology of the 20Nm3/h class ammonia decomposition reaction system to IKOCES and jointly develop the technology for localization of commercial-scale ammonia-based high-purity hydrogen production facilities. In addition, using the developed technology, IKOCES and VINSSEN are planning to establish a clean ammonia-based hydrogen fuel cell ship propulsion system.
