Vice president, Chang-keun Lee participated in RD20 pre-readership meeting

Vice president Chang-keun Lee of the Korea Institute of Energy Research attended the ‘3rd RD20 (Research and Development 20 for Clean Energy Technologies)* Pre-Leadership Meeting’ as the representative of KIER on September 9 (Thu).
* RD20 is a meeting established at the G20 Energy Ministers Meeting in 2019 to promote international joint research on clean energy technology and establish international energy security among the representative energy technology research institutes of G20 member countries. KIER has been designated as the representative institution for RD20 by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy and has been participating since the first RD20.


This meeting is a pre-meeting of the ‘3rd RD20 Leader's Session’ to be held on October 8, and at the presentation by institute, Vice President Chang-keun Lee introduced the KIER as an R&D hub related to achieving 2050 carbon neutrality, and suggested ‘Commercial-grade joint demonstration related to CCS’ and ‘Expansion of common CO2 storage’ as a priority for international cooperation.


Furthermore, in relation to the draft of Leaders' Statement, he suggested ▲the necessity of specifying the contents of joint funding system ▲the addition of CCS other than hydrogen related to technology focus, and ▲the need for a differentiated representative program for cooperation with other multilateral organizations.
