A
research team led by Dr. Ryi Shin-kun
of the High Temperature Energy Conversion Laboratory of Korea Institute of
Energy Research (KIER) successfully in developed a Highly selective Pd composite membrane on porous metal
support for high-purity hydrogen production through effective ammonia
decomposition.
The
low-temperature catalyst-separator complex ammonia reforming technology is a
technology that can produce green hydrogen from ammonia using a palladium
separator reactor at a low temperature below 500°C.
The ammonia
decomposition test test showed that the membrane reactor was able to achieve a
high ammonia conversion (99.6 %) and a high hydrogen purity (99.99 %) with a
hydrogen production rate of 0.25 Nm3h-1 at 745 K and a gauge pressure of 500
kPa.
The
findings of the research were published in ENERGY, a prestigious academic
journal.
