The Jeju Global Research Center under the Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) was selected as the lead organization to supervise the program titled ‘Development of the Core Technologies to Store Eco-Friendly Energy Utilizing Seawater.’ This is part of the ‘Science and Technology Project to Create a Better Regional Future,’ a contest held by the Ministry of Science and ICT.

With the government support of 9.5 billion KRW for the next five years, the Jeju Global Research Center is scheduled to secure core technologies for storing eco-friendly energy utilizing seawater and to conduct research on commercialization of the technologies as the technologies are considered essential for resolving the issue of curtailment of renewable energy in Jeju.
