The Korea Institute of Energy Research (KIER) won government rewards and ministerial commendations in commemoration of the 55th Science Day in 2022.

Chung Dae-hun (senior research fellow of Energy Network Laboratory) won Science and Technology Medal and Lee Jin-suk (principal researcher of Gwangju Bio/Energy R&D Center) won Presidential Citation for their distinguished service to promote of science and technology. Ahn Se-jin (principal researcher of Photovoltaics Research Department), Lee Jin-seok (principal researcher of Energy Storage Laboratory), Park Suk-in (principal researcher of Energy ICT Convergence Research Department), and Sohn Young-jun (principal researcher of Fuel Cell Laboratory) won Ministerial Commendations for their distinguished service to promote science and technology.

The Ministry of Science and ICT has identified those who have contributed to national development of science and technology and, in commemoration of Science Day, has awarded government rewards and ministerial commendations to them every year in order to foster national innovation in science and technology by making scientists and engineers filled with pride and honor and boosting their morale.
