KIER held ‘2019 Hondimoang Science Festival’

■ The Korea Institute of Energy Research (President Kwak Byong-sung) held the '2019 Hondimoang Science Festival' at Jeju Global Research Center of Korea Institute of Energy Research on Monday, November 11. 


□ The ‘Hondimoang Science Festival’ is an energy technology science event for students in Jeju Island. It is held every year to share the research achievements and scientific knowledge of the researchers with the local community.

※ Hondimoang: Jeju dialect meaning “gather in one place”


■ 120 elementary school students and teachers in Jeju Island attended at this event, and various scientific experience programs were held under the theme of “Play & Run with Energy.”


□ The famous science YouTube creator ‘Minani’ gave a lecture on the topic of “New Renewable Energy in Everyday Life” and held a communication session by introducing trivial scientific knowledge and answering students' questions through the energy quiz contest.


□ In the following energy team building recreation, there were fun and practical experience programs such as generating wind power using spaghetti noodles, finding renewable energy cards, and creating a renewable energy experience kit. 


■ President Kwak Byong-sung of the Korea Institute of Energy Research said, “A scientific experience event like Hondimoang Science Festival is a precious opportunity to raise interest in science for growing students. We will continue to make efforts to popularize science culture.”
