Korea Institute of Energy Research (president Gwak Byong-sung) successfully completed 2018 Dream Tree Science Mentor Project organized by Yuseong-gu office, a part of science culture diffusion program of the institute. Dream Tree Science Mentor Project began first in 2011 by the Yuseong-gu office, Daejeon Metropolitan City. It is a scientific talent development program for which researchers in Taedok Science Town become mentors to create interest in science among teens and children and help build their dreams to be a future scientist. KIER began to participate in 2014 and has continued until now for five years.

Especially, this year, differently from general science class program in which researchers visited schools or invited students to the institute, it prepared a new program ‘Science Career Search Class.’ The institute provided more various and specialized programs such as energy technology class, experience study and career mentoring by arranging researchers of the institute in conjunction with other events such as science festival and exhibitions for young people. In addition to mentee school, the institute expanded the object of this project to all young people who participated in the event.

Besides, it increased the opportunities to expand science culture by visiting schools in Daejeon, child centers in Gyeongsang provinces and elementary schools in Yeosu, and expanding education objects and trial regions.
