WRITE DATE 2016-11-07 10:47:59.0 HIT 1477
The KIER had organized KOICA ODA funded training program as implementing agency on “Renewable Energy Development and Management” for 14 officials from 11 Pacific Islands Countries (PICs) from Sep. 28 to Oct. 18.

It was specially aimed at friendship agreement reinforcement between Korea and PICs. The program was consisted of lectures about ▲New and Renewable Energy Resource Map, ▲New and Renewable Energy development and deployment, ▲Energy Independent Island, ▲Master plan for Renewable Energy Development. It was more fruitful by the parallel study visits to Jeju Global Research Center of KIER, Gapa carbon free island and KRISO.

The PICs rarely emit green house gases however they are the typically vulnerable countries to global climate change, relying on fossil fuel imports, suffering from natural disasters and sea level rise. Recently most PICs has established National Electricity Plan for 100% renewable energy by 2030, therefore micro-grid system and renewable energy power generation such as photovoltaic, solar thermal, wind, biomass are highly required.
KIER, as an R&D hub institute for climate change response, will give an effort to find the solution in cooperation with developing countries.
